    How to Login?

    1. In order to login to Moodle you need to use your BOĞAZİÇİ email username which is the part before ‘@’ character of your email address and BOĞAZİÇİ email password. Be sure you did not use your registration password in the password field.

    How to Add Assignment?

    1. In order to activate editing tools, “Turn editing on” should be selected in the administration panel after logging into the Moodle system (Figure 1). Administration panel is located on the left bottom corner of the page.

    3. “Assignment” link, which is located on the left side of the opening window (Figure 4), is selected and “Add” button is clicked.

    4. In the page that has just opened, assignment details such as assignment date, submission types etc. are filled and by clicking “Save and display” button, the assignment is created.

    1. When the course page is opened, ”Enrolled Users” link should be selected by following “Course Administration->Users->Enrolled Users” path. “Course Administration” dropdown list is under the “Administration” menu that is located on the left bottom corner of the page. (Figure 1)

    2. People enrolled in that course as “Student”, “Assistant”, "PS Assistant", "Grader", “Teacher” can be seen on “Enrolled Users” page. In order to enroll a new person into this course, “Enrol users” button that is on the right-top corner of the page should be clicked. (Figure 2) 
      A "Grader" can evaluate and grade assignments. A "PS Assistant" can evaluate and grade assignments and add documents to course page. An "Assistant" can do everything a "Teacher" can do except that it can not give lecture grades to students.

    3. On the “Enrol Users” window (Figure 3) all users registered in the Moodle System can be seen. In order to enroll a new user in the course, type of enrollment (“Student”, “Assistant”, “Teacher”) should be selected from “Assign Roles” dropdown list. Then, the “Enrol” button in the same line with the person to be enrolled in that course should be clicked. After finishing the enrollment, by clicking the “Finish enrolling users” button, process should be finished. Newly added users can be seen in “Enrolled Users” list

    4. In order to remove a user's role, X button that is near to the user’s role in “Enrolled Users” list should be clicked.

    5. By clicking “Remove” button that is on the pop-up window, the removal process can be done.
    6. By clicking  button that is next to the user’s role, one of the roles that are available in the system can be selected and assigned to that user.

    7. In order to give more than one role to the user,  icon should be clicked.
    8. In order to unenroll a user from the course, X button that is at the right-bottom corner of the user’s line in “Enrolled Users” page should be clicked.
    9. Then, by clicking “Continue” button on the next screen, the unenrollment process can be completed.

    How to add file to a course?

    How to import a course?

    1. By clicking the “Import” button, which is located under “Administration” menu (Figure 4), data transfer section will appear.

    2. In the “Import” page (Figure 5), current courses of the system are listed. After selecting the related radio button, which is located near to the title of the course to be imported, and clicking “Continue” button, a page that consists sections of the course to be selected (“Backup settings” page) will appear.

    3. “Backup settings” page (Figure 6) shows areas of a course to be imported. After marking the sections that are to be imported in the previous (5th) step, “Next” button is clicked and other copying options will appear.

    4. After marking the sections that are to be imported of a certain course, “Next” button is clicked and a page (Figure 7) that contains information about the sections to be imported will appear.

    5. After completing these steps, a review page that contains information about the course (showing which sections will be imported and which will not) will appear. After confirming this information, “Perform import” button is clicked and the last step is completed (Figure 8).

    6. The message that is indicated in Figure 9 tells that the process is completed successfully.

    How to assign grades?

    1. The assignment that is to be graded should be clicked in the course page in order to display “Grading Summary“ (Figure 1).

    2. “Grading Summary” page (Figure 2) shows how many students submitted their assignments and how many assignments need to be graded. “View/grade all submissions” button should be clicked to access to list of people who submitted their assignment.

    3. Assignment status of the people for assignment is shown in “Status” column. “Edit” button that is in the same row with user name should be clicked. After that, “Grade” button should be clicked to reach grading page of the user.

    4. At the top of the grading page, submitting status is shown. At the bottom of the page, “Grade” from can be displayed (Figure 4). After finishing grading and feedback processes “Save Changes” button should be clicked in order to complete process.

    1. “News Forum“ link should be clicked on the course page to access the forum.
    2. To answer a discussion, the topic of the discussion should be clicked. (Figure 1).

    2. First, you need to add Sharing Cart blocks to all courses that you want to share items between. Sharing Cart block can be added from Add A Block section below the Administration block. ( Figure 2 )

    3. After adding Sharing Cart block to a course, you can add course items to the cart by clicking "Edit" on the desired course item and selecting "Copy to Sharing Cart". ( Figure 3 )

    4. On the desired course page that you want to copy items to, click on the "Copy to Course" button from Sharing Cart block to add items to the course. ( Figure 4 )

    While creating an activity for your course in Moodle, you have the option of choosing a "Turnitin Assignment 2". This is your gateway to the Turnitin system from Moodle and it is very much like the regular "Assignment" module.   1. What is The Maximum File Upload Limit for Moodle?

    What is the maximum file upload limit for Moodle?

    The maximum file upload size limit is 10 GB for instructors and 1 GB for students. Course-wide maximum upload limit is 1 GB by default, but instructors can increase it to 10 GB on “Course Settings” page. For larger sized files, users can use external file hosting services such as BUCloud, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive.

    For Students, we have 100GB of space for each user in our Office 365 A1 license on OneDrive.

    Students can upload their files to cloud environments such as Microsoft OneDrive, Sharepoint, GoogleDrive and share the link with you on Moodle.
    In order to use Microsoft products such as OneDrive, Teams and Sharepoint, our instructors and students must create Office 365 accounts with the BOGAZICI email address from https://www.microsoft.com/tr-tr/education/products/office page, if they have not created one yet. When they create an Office 365 account with their BOGAZICI email address, they will have 100GB of space.

    Instructors can send mass emails to students on Moodle courses. Moodle has no email restrictions.

    User accounts, semesters and courses are generated automatically from ÖBİKAS (Student Information and Registration System).

    Instructors must use BOĞAZİÇİ e-mail addresses in their BUIS accounts (http://registration.bogazici.edu.tr) to use Moodle. Courses are invisible by default in Moodle. Instructors who want to use Moodle should make their courses visible to students.

    Instructors can upload the previously created Moodle course archive to their current course. The maximum upload size limit for an archived course is 1 GB.

    Can instructors copy the contents of a course stored on Moodle to other courses?

    The contents of the courses can be passed on to other courses by the instructors.

  11. How to merge sections

    Instructors who teach more than one sections of the same course can request to merge these sections on Moodle by contacting Registrar's Office. After merge process is completed, all of these students who are enroled to these sections are enroled into each section on Moodle. Instructors can set visible one of the sections and start using it.
